Robots

End of Break

Well, New Years Eve didn't go as expected. Allison got sick and so Steve and I just ended up going bowling and hanging out. I guess I forgot to mention how much Rummikub I played, both at home and at Dad's. I had a pretty strong winning record too. This inspired me to go buy it once I got back to school. Also, my dad faking me out offering me champagne on New Years when all he had was a choclate bottle gave rise to me buying champagne on my way back from the game store. Thus was the formation of Rummikub and Champagne. We've played a lot of Rummikub this week, it has been a big hit in the house, especially during rush.

Robots

The first few days of my week and a half of break back in the burgh were pretty uneventful. Then Steve came back and all hell broke loose. Besides keeping me from doing work by wanting to hang out and have fun, he had another major impact on my life. Having taken MRPL (mobile robot programming lab, pronounced murple) and about to take AMPL (my name for the advanced class), he was on a mailing list asking for volunteers to help build robots. He wanted to know if I thought he should do it, but it excited me so I decided I'd help out too.

I'll let you read the details about the project on a new project page, Robotics. It was a lot of fun to work on. I ended up working on it a lot more than I expected to. I was up really late every night and got up early every day. I didn't mean to get so involved but I ended up being the one with a lot knowledge about the Stayton boards and C serial and network programming so they needed me. Illah is really cool to work with. I thought maybe I had an interest in robotics that I didn't know about. I thought about applying to the RI, but I missed the deadline. :-( One really crazy thing happened. The robotic arm was left handed because Chris who built it is. I thought that was cool because I am too. However later when we were talking about it we found out that 5 out of 7 people on the project were!

Rush

AEPi rush has also been going on. This is another reason I've been so busy. Everything was fun, but especially ice skating. I have to go more often this semester. Ouch! That reminds me, it has been about 3 degrees below death all week.

Oh, yeah, classes too

So far my classes seem easy enough. I'm only taking two. One of them I might not even go to because his lectures are right out of the bound notes he made us buy, even the jokes.
